Kata Videos
The following videos are for
your use. You can click them to watch them on your computer.
At the bottom of the page are also three videos of
Master Gichin Funakoshi performing in 1924. The videos are in AVI format
and are of exceptionally bad quality, and use a very weird codec, but they are Master Funakoshi.
They will not run on many systems,
however, I have found that they run fine if played with REALPLAYER.
You can give that a try if you like. If they run on your system, great. If they do not, I'm sorry. I can't do
anything to fix them, so emailing me complaining about how you cannot
see them won't help.
If you would like
step-by-step diagrams of the kata movements, an excellent resource
is available at Brevard
Shotokan.
If you wish to purchase excellent,
high-quality training videos of Shotokan kata, we suggest the Panther Video
series showing Master Ken Funakoshi (Master Gichin Funakoshi's
grandson) sold by Century Martial
Arts. I personally own the series
and enjoy it greatly.
Notice to other
webmasters and karate sites ... If you want your visitors to be able to download these videos
you can link to this PAGE
from your site so your visitors can come to our site for the
videos. However, you may not link directly to the video
files. When you do that it is unethical, and certainly not
something any legitimate karateka would do.
